TRAINING PROGRAMMES

Completing" a system (Making a fighting art complete)

Our philosophy at Bushido Combat Academy is a simple one.....

to able to defend yourself and your loved ones should you be put in a situation that requires you to do so.... and in order to do this we believe that you need to have a complete understanding of all the areas and requirements of combat....

"what are they" i hear you ask??... well it can get very deep and technical trying to explain all this
correctly... but "simply" put, you are required to be comfortable in 3 ranges (distances) at

3 Levels (heights) in 3 areas of skill (All stand up defence, Ground defence and combat conditioning) *

And if you forget this, just look at out club badge, the Centre section has a Triple Tomoe symbol (like 3 ying/yangs) for us this represents the power of 3 and also the continuation of movement from one area into another... all 3 cogs need to work together to be the most effective they can be, leave one cog out, and it will not run smoothly or efficiently..

so ask yourself at the end of each training week you complete..

"Are you Completing the System"? and if the answer was "No".. then changes need to be made...

   Kempo Karate-Jutsu

Our Karate-jitsu sessions found within the Bushido Combat Academy system focuses of all aspects of realistic defence against real world scenarios using the ancient principles of "Applied" techniques, rather than your more standard punch, block, kick, line drill training.

This system of combat is hands on at all times and will pressure test each situation using set principles of application through both single partner and small group practice, utilising evasion, absorption, control, and finish. Through full body strikes, joint manipulation, chokes and vital point activation..

These KJ classes can be taken as a complete stand alone system of defence or can be combined with our BK1 Combat sessions to creat a complete understanding of both the more technical close range side and the more basic principled distance fighting approach.

These sessions are ideal for those that are looking to learn close quarter, quick fire. "You get the first go, the rest is ALL me" kind of defence strategies

Junior Self Defence
Programme

Our "Junior Self Defence Programme"

enables kids of all abilities between the ages of 6 - 13 to learn realistic applicable self defence and safety methods using "Non Striking" control and escape strategies, incorporating: risk management, distance management, clinch control, punch protection, takedowns & throwing techniques by unbalancing though leverage against all possible scenarios that can occur both in the school and public environment - this programme was designed to allow a student to negate all attacks from the initial attack to the controlled and safe conclusion in a non aggressive manner.

Unlike many Kids Martial arts classes, that teach children a watered down version of Adult martial arts that would be practically impossible for them to learn or use, let alone need. our programme works on the assumption that should a child be attacked (bullied) it will be from another child either in their own age bracket or at least close to it, therefore these techniques are both practical and Usable.

Additional Striking & Kicking combinations are trained in isolation (non partner work) alongside the non striking programme, by using pad drills on the striking and kicking pads. these are trained now in preparation for later training (16+) when the striking and kicking arts come more to prevalence..

parents that have enrolled their children into the programme have reported back on the great benefits to their kids, such as renewed confidence, self discipline and focus. not to mention the extra fitness and fun in having a new group of friends.

  BK1 - Combat System

Our combat classes are the Full flow, stand up to ground free sparring classes of our fighting systems, these classes are ideal for those that like their martial arts less technical and more physical.

In The BK1 combat sessions you will learn, Basic through to advanced distance fight combination work containing.

Striking, kicking, knee & elbow work

(Atemi-waza)

Clinch work, takedowns & Throws

(Nage-waza),

Ground attack and defence

(Ne-waza)

These techniques are worked through pre determined pad drills as well as live sparring with a partner. In addition to this we work the cardiovascular system through added strength & conditioning (s&c)

People often refer to our BK1 classes as looking like MMA in a Gi, and I guess that's a fair comparison, although there is a lot more to it than that
